La Cañada is the first public golf course on the Costa del Sol. It is located in an elevated area of Guadiaro, a town with the largest proportion of golfers in Spain. The design of the extension, currently the first nine holes, was carried out by architect Dave Thomas. The designer of the second nine holes (initially the first) is Robert Trent Jones, who also designed the neighbouring courses of Valderrama and Real Club de Golf Sotogrande. It is a pleasant and varied course, with excellent views. The terrain is not flat but the slopes are gentle. It is characterised by its very well-kept greens, an important grove of native species and the ravine on hole 18 which gives the course its name. The course can be played without difficulty and without the need for a golf cart. Its greens are wide with slopes and very well maintained. An ideal course for strategic play that requires the use of all clubs. Fun is guaranteed for any good golfer.
